Real Madrid 'plotting world record £100m bid for Chelsea star' - and it's not Eden Hazard.

Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a move to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Thibuat Courtois instead of Manchester United's David De Gea.
Having mustered a disappointing attempt at the defence of their La Liga crown this season, there's expected to be plenty of transfer activity at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer as they look to avoid a repeat of Barcelona running away with the title next year.
The goalkeeping position look set to be one area in which Los Blancos will attempt to strengthen and they have been tipped to reignite their interest in De Gea after coming close to securing the Spaniard's signature during the 2015 summer transfer window.
However, that move broke down infamously becasue of a fax machine and now the 27-year-old appears settled at Old Trafford after signing a new long-term contract - which means the Champions League holders will have to switch their targets to another Premier League stopper.




According to the Independent, Courtois has now emerged as Real Madrid's number one target and it's understood that the La Liga outfit are prepared to pay £100million - which would smash all the previous transfer records for a goalkeeper.
The current world record fee for a goalkeeper stands at £34.7m, which Manchester City payed Benfica to sign Ederson last summer and that deal eclipsed the £32.6m it cost Juventus to lure Gianluigi Buffon from Parma in 2001.
Courtois' contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of next season and despite confirming talks over an extension will resume this month, he also spoke about his desire to return to Spain one day.... continue reading
