According to Marca, Sao Paulo and Barcelona have reached an agreement for the loan of Gabriel Novaes, who will join the Blaugrana’s B team. The Brazilian will move to the Catalans until 30 June 2020 and Barcelona, whose B team play in the Segunda Division B, will retain a purchase option in the deal.
According to Globoesporte, Sevilla were also interested in the acquisition of the 19-year-old, who has already arrived in Spain. Novaes is expected to undergo his medical examinations and finalise the final contract details with Barcelona; everything will be completed before the end of the January transfer window.
After bringing in Frenkie de Jong, Todibo, Kevin-Prince Boateng, and now Gabriel Novaes on loan, Barcelona will now focus on players leaving the club before the January transfer window closes on Thursday night. Munir El Haddadi has been the only departure from the Camp Nou thus far but he looks set to have some company in that regard in the coming days. One player who looks certain to leave the Blaugrana is Denis Suarez, according to reports by MARCA, and while the midfielder would love to join Arsenal, they are not currently in a position to sign the midfielder.
The Galician has been unable to force himself into Ernesto Valverde’s plans and his contract ends in June 2020. Barcelona are only willing to allow Denis to leave the club on loan if it includes an obligatory purchase option as they do not want a repeat of Rafinha’s case with Inter from last season. As a result, Barcelona are more willing to listen to offers that provide a short-term boost regarding funds, such as those proposed by Real Betis and Sevilla; the solution to Denis’ soap opera will be decided in the coming hours.
Another footballer who could leave the club is Malcom, though it is more likely that he will leave in the summer, unless a mouth-watering proposal arrived. Barcelona do not want to make a loss on their 41 million euro investment after signing him from Bordeaux last summer. Like Denis, Malcom has been unable to establish himself under Valverde and whenever he has been given an opportunity, he has disappointed, as he did against Sevilla in the first leg of the Blaugrana’s quarter-final Copa del Rey tie last week.
One more remote option is that Jasper Cillessen would’ve pushed for a move if Barcelona had been knocked out of the Copa del Rey against Sevilla but he will definitely be staying after they wonderful comeback win at the Camp Nou. The Dutchman is aware that Marc-Andre ter Stegen would be the goalkeeper in LaLiga Santander and the Champions League, so rather than sit on the bench for six months without playing, he may opt to go out on loan and play. More likely, however, is that Cillessen leaves the club in the summer in order to play more regularly.
Send your welcome message to Gabriel Novaes after reaching an agreement to join Barcelona on loan… Thanks
