Barcelona made an important promise to new boy Frenkie de Jong after convincing him to sign for the Spanish club.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been a rising star at Ajax and has become a regular starter in the first team.

Of course, the Netherlands international would not be happy with a spot on the bench at the reigning La Liga champions, but it would seem that is far from the case.

Journalist Quim Domènech made an appearance on El Chiringuito and claimed that his source told him that Barça changed de Jong's mindset after suggesting that three central midfielders would be leaving the club in the summer.
While the unnamed source didn't name the players who would be shown the door at the Camp Nou, Domènech believes that the three Barcelona stars to leave would be Ivan Rakitić, Denis Suárez and Rafinha.

Sport English reports that Barça manager Ernesto Valverde is a big fan of Rakitić, but the sporting department and boardroom want to cash in on the 30-year-old Croatian midfielder while he 'still has a few good years left at the highest level.'
Suárez's future remains uncertain, with Arsenal keen to take the 25-year-old Spaniard out on loan in January.
Rafinha, on the other hand, is not part of Valverde's long-term plan at Barça.
Barcelona signed de Jong from Ajax on a five-year deal and he will arrive at the club in the summer.
The La Liga side will pay an initial €75m (£65m) for the Ajax ace, which could rise by another €11m (£9.5m) if different clauses are met.
