LIONEL MESSI was left more fired up after Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League exploits for Real Madrid last night, according to stunning reports in Spain.
Real Madrid have one foot in the semi-finals after they thrashed Juventus 3-0 in the first leg of their tie in Turin.
Ronaldo assumed centre stage once again, netting a double, with his second goal a magnificent overhead kick that left Gianluigi Buffon rooted to the spot.
The Portuguese superstar set a new record in the process by becoming the first player in the competition’s history to score for the 10th consecutive game.
One of Real’s biggest threats to defending the Champions League is Barcelona.
Messi has been Ronaldo’s main rival over the past decade or so, and according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, he wants to face their La Liga foes if they reach the final.
The report suggests the Argentine was left angry with Ronaldo’s display and he is determined to ensure they meet in the final so he can plot his downfall.
Messi, it is also claimed, believes that Barcelona are the only team left in the Champions League that can beat Real.

In order to achieve that, Messi and co will first have to beat Roma, with the first leg of their quarter-final tie later today (7.45pm).
