CHELSEA are close to completing the signing of Roma forward Edin Dzeko.
The Blues are desperate to bolster their attacking options for the rest of the campaign and have been linked with a host of strikers already this month.
Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Ashley Barnes and Islam Slimani are just some of the surprise targets rumoured to be wanted by Antonio Conte.
But Dzeko is the player who appears closest to joining Stamford Bridge.
According to The Sun, Chelsea and Roma have agreed a ‘basic fee’ of £28m for the Bosnian target man.
However, the clubs are yet to fully agree over the deal.
The publication reports the Serie A outfit are still demanding an extra £5m in additional payments for the 31-year-old.
Conte has been desperate to sign a backup striker for Alvaro Morata, who has struggled for form recently.
Second-string star Michy Batshuayi has found gametime hard to come by under the Italian.
And The Sun report the 24-year-old has been offered to Roma on loan as part of any deal for Dzeko.
Chelsea are also close to agreeing a deal for Emerson Palmieri.
The Roma left-back will join the west London outfit in a joint move with Dzeko.
However, it is unlikely the duo will arrive in time to face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup this week.
