N’Golo Kante has expressed his happiness at seeing Chelsea FC secure a deal to sign Ross Barkley from Everton in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old midfielder became the west London side’s first signing of the January transfer window earlier this month when he signed a long-term contract with the Blues.
Barkley is still waiting to make his debut for the Blues but has been training hard at Chelsea’s Cobham base in recent days.
The England international was an unused substitute in the 4-0 victory over Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday and will be hoping to make his debut soon.
And France star Kante has admitted that he is a big fan of the midfielder and is backing him to be a great addition to the squad at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Kante said: “He is a good player.
“I played against him when I was at Leicester and in my first season at Chelsea. He has the ability to score.
“He can play in different positions: he is a very good no.10 or no.8. He can help us achieve our target this season.”
Both Kante and Barkley will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to League Cup action on Wednesday night with the second leg of their semi-final clash against Arsenal at The Emirates.
The two teams played out a goalless draw when they met in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
