Barcelona continued their quest to win La Liga with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leganes yesterday.
Luis Suarez ended his goal drought with a brilliant brace before summer signing Paulinho got on the scoresheet late on.
It means the Catalan giants now sit 10 points ahead of Real Madrid, who were only able to draw 0-0 with local rivals Atletico last night.
But Spanish outlet Don Balon say Iniesta rallied the troops before making a rallying cry after the game against Leganes.
Barcelona supposedly always thought Real would drop points against Atletico at the Wanda Metropoliticano stadium.
Yet Don Balon say Iniesta warned players to not get complacent or risk throwing away the title due to arrogance, in a speech that took Messi by surprise.
He also raised the importance of beating Real in next month's El Clasico.
Victory over Zinedine Zidane's side at the Bernabeu would likely see Los Blancos' hopes of winning the prize fade for good.
Iniesta reportedly thinks, however, that Valencia could prove to be tough competition.
Marcelino Garcia Toral's men have enjoyed a stunning season so far, winning eight of their first 11 games.
Victory against Espanyol this afternoon would see them cut the gap at the top to just four points.
Meanwhile, Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde was far from happy after yesterday's win over Leganes.
"The result was misleading and excessive because Leganes made it difficult for us and had a great game, while there were times when we weren't brilliant," he said.
"They're very secure at the back, as shown by the fact that they've only conceded two goals in five games."
