Eden Hazard to Real Madrid
07:00: Chelsea are braced for Real Madrid to step up their pursuit of Eden Hazard after Paris Saint-Germain warned the La Liga giants off making a move for Neymar, according to reports.
The Brazilian moved to PSG last summer in a world record £198million transfer.
But there have been constant reports in Spain suggesting he is not happy with life in the French capital.
That has led to speculation Real could make a move with Florentino Perez adding to those rumours last month when he said Neymar would have a better chance at winning the Ballon d’Or at the Bernabeu.
However, PSG have told Real once and for all he will not be leaving in the summer.
Antonio Conte rant
06:30: Roman Abramovich has been left fuming by Antonio Conte’s latest transfer rant, with the Chelsea manager now walking a tightrope over his future.
The relationship between Conte and Chelsea’s Russian owner has been put under major strain, with Abramovich increasingly irritated with his manager, who has complained since the summer that he has not been provided with the players he wants and has no control over transfers.
Conte repeated his claims on Wednesday after his side were beaten by Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at the Emirates Stadium.
A source close to Abramovich said last night: “Sure Roman is angry. He is not happy.”
Express Sport understands Abramovich and the Chelsea hierarchy fully expect Conte to walk away at the end of this campaign. But with the Italian’s volatile nature and Abramovich’s famed lack of patience, things could unravel sooner.
Edin Dzeko Chelsea exclusive
06:00: Chelsea are considering a cheeky bid for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud – in case their £30 million move for Edin Dzeko collapses.
Roma striker Dzeko is still locked in talks with the Stamford Bridge club over the deal, but he wants a two and a half year contract to return to the Premier League, while the champions are only offering a deal up to 2019.
Giroud was being offered as a makeweight in the deal that is expected to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal but the Bundisliga club now want a straight cash £60 million deal.
Giroud, 31, will be pushed further down the pecking order at the Emirates if Aubameyang arrives having only started only one league game this season.
And Express Sport understands the Blues are hoping to capitalise if their Dzeko deal falls through.
Paul Merson on Hazard to Real Madrid
05:30: Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has revealed Real Madrid’s plan to sign Eden Hazard.
Los Blancos are having a terrible season as they sit fourth in La Liga and are knocked out of the Copa day Rey.
So to ensure there are improvements next year they are plotting to sign Hazard.
Chelsea will be hoping to keep hold of their star man but Merson is convinced that he will be gone as soon as Zinedine Zidane comes knocking.
And the Sky Sports pundit thinks Ross Barkley has been brought in from Everton to take the Belgian’s place when he departs.
“I don’t see Hazard being there next season,” Merson told The Debate.
“I think that is why Barkley was brought in for £15million to work under him now.”
