LIONEL MESSI has told Barcelona star l to leave the club after they signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, according to reports.
Barcelona signed Coutinho from Liverpool on Saturday night for a huge £142million, in a deal that sees the Brazilian become the world’s second most-expensive player of all time.
And, after spending so much on one player, the La Liga giants are expected to axe several players to raise funds for Antoine Griezmann at the end of the season.
Vidal could be shown the door having never really settled at Barcelona after joining from Sevilla in January 2015.
And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Messi has told the player he would be better off leaving Catalonia following Coutinho’s arrival.
Vidal has recently been reintegrated into the side with some speculating Ernesto Valverde had had a change of heart.
But Diario Gol report that this has merely been a ruse to give the player more minutes ahead of the transfer window.
Messi supposedly thinks Valverde will offload the Spaniard this month.
However, that may be easier said than done.
Barcelona reportedly tried to offload Vidal during Luis Enrique’s time in charge, though were unsuccessful.
Vidal may not be the only player leaving the Nou Camp.
Ivan Rakitic, Arda Turan and Gerard Deulofeu also face uncertain futures in La Liga.
Liverpool and Arsenal have been tipped to land Rakitic and Turan.
And Deulofeu could be set for a move to Inter Milan, particularly after the Serie A giants recently gave up on Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
