Barcelona have been on the hunt for a creative midfielder from the Premier League since the summer, but it is Tottenham's Christian Eriksen, rather than Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, who the La Liga leaders will target when the January transfer window opens. (Don Balon)

BARCELONA star Lionel Messi was impressed by two Tottenham players in Spurs’ 3-1 Champions League win over Real Madrid, according to reports.

Real Madrid’s current crisis continued at Wembley last night, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side running riot against Los Blancos.
Dele Alli scored twice before and Christian Eriksen completed the rout with Cristiano Ronaldo pulling one back for Real Madrid late on.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claims Messi was impressed by the performances of both Tottenham goalscorers at Wembley last night.
It is said the 30-year-old watched the game and thought Alli and Eriksen would both be big hits if they were to move to the Nou Camp.
Barcelona will need to strengthen their midfield at the end of the season with several first-team stars entering the later years of their career.
Sergio Busquets turns 30 in July, while Andres Iniesta’s career also appears to be winding down.
Alli and Eriksen would both provide some creativity to the Barcelona midfield and boost their chances of glory further down the line.
Don Balon add Messi also wants Barcelona not to face Tottenham in the knockout stages.
Spurs appear to be the team to beat, overcoming the toughness of their group to currently occupy top spot.
Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Pochettino lauded Alli after his double against Madrid last night.
