Antonio Conte was delighted with the return to goalscoring form of Alvaro Morata as the Chelsea striker secured a 1-0 over Premier League title rivals Manchester United, although he insisted there is room for improvement. The Spaniard was without a goal in six matches heading into Sunday’s clash but scored an exquisite header to wrap up a vital three points for the Blues.
After scoring a stunning four goals in two games for the club against Stoke and Atletico Madrid, the Spain international hobbled off against Manchester City and missed their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. Since the hamstring problem suffered against Pep Guardiola’s side, Morata has failed to find the net prior to Sunday’s meeting with United at Stamford Bridge, and Conte was ecstatic to see him end that drought.
But while Conte was happy about his return to scoring ways, he wants the Spain international to become more clinical.

When we talk about Morata this is the first season that he’s playing regularly,’ he said after the match. ‘In the previous seasons, he never played regularly. Now, for sure, he has to try to work, to improve.
Before the injury, he was playing in a fantastic way. Then after injury, he’s form dropped. It wasn’t good enough. ‘But now, to play and to work is improving and tonight I think he played a really good game against three central defenders who are strong physically and proved he’s strong physically. ‘If I have to find a negative, he could score more goals and be more clinical – but step by step.’
