Cristiano Ronaldo’s first appearance at the Allianz Stadium for Juventus ended in victory, but the attacker’s wait for his first goal goes on. The former Real Madrid superstar and five-time Champions League winner led Juventus’ attack in a 2-0 win over Lazio. Miralem Pjanic and Mario Mandzukic struck in a routine victory for Juventus, and the latter pounced on an incredible miss from Ronaldo to get his goal.

Ronaldo had the whole goal to aim for when the cross came in, but could not find the net despite the goalkeeper in no man’s land. Luckily, Mandzukic was right behind Ronaldo to volley in his strike and peeled off to celebrate. Before a smiling Ronaldo joined Mandzukic and his team-mates, the Portuguese could not help but show his frustration at missing what should have been a tap-in.

Ronaldo threw his hands in the air in disbelief, before turning to Mandzukic to celebrate. The result leaves Juventus with six points from two Serie A games and top of the table after two matches.

Juventus will be hoping Ronaldo can inspire a fantastic season in Italy, with fans desperate to see their side perform in the Champions League. Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real in a £99.2million this summer, ending a remarkable nine-year spell with the Spanish side which yielded eight major trophies and five Ballon d’Ors.
